I have recently been prescribed lansoprazole 30mg for GERD. I have been taking this for a week now?

Also to add to the other answer, you can expect it to be worse about 4 days after your 8 weeks because when you stop taking your ppi your body will flood your system with the acid its been trying to make, in a sense the meds just turn the pump off but it doesn't stop the body from trying to make . It's, called acid rebound . And unfortunately the is no cure as was said there is only management or surgery but that's if-e at best. I've have acid reflux for 3 years but mine is controlled with famotidine (pepcid) 20 mg twice a day. Just take the meds everyone of us has tried to stop and came to the same conclusion and when you try it my be the same. Its not hopeless,it's unfair and crappy but you'll live some days better than others.

I have here for over 15 years,there is no cure to date all they can do is manage your symptoms unless you have an underlying condition like ucler,hernia sect,,, I take omepersole which protects and improves the damage to the esophagus and stomachs. Lining.I had tried many differant meds to improve my here or in layman's terms acid reflux.here is you have it or you don't,it gets better with meds,its the erosion of stomachs acid on parts of the throat, mine was so bad that I had to use baking soda and water until got non omepersale,hope this helps regards S.libby
